When it comes to cancer, whether or not a drug may cause ED is a secondary consideration for doctors. The good news is many men will regain erectile function once their chemo regimen is over.
Also known as high blood pressure, hypertension is called “the silent killer” because many people cannot feel its effects.
Untreated, high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack and other cardiovascular ailments. Hypertension is very common in men with ED, and they are 38 percent more likely to have this condition than men for whom ED is not a concern.
There are many anti-hypertensive drugs on the market, and some types are less likely to cause ED than others. For example, beta blockers and diuretics appear to trigger ED more than ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers or alpha blockers.

However, for women who had hysterectomies, and used estrogen HRT alone, a decrease in their breast cancer risk occurred. The results of the study caused the WHI to stop the estrogen/progestin HRT study in 2002, and the estrogen-alone HRT study in 2004. The overall use of HRT dropped significantly among women suffering the side effects of menopause.
Years later, a principal investigator of the WHI study, Dr. Robert Langer, said the initial results linking HRT to breast cancer were “misleading and distorted.”
Standard estrogen HRT consists of hormones created from pregnant mare’s urine. Synthetic progestins found in standard HRT may increase breast cancer risk. It is a one-size-fits-all type of HRT, taken off the shelf and given to the patient.
That is not the case with bio-identical HRT, derived from natural sources such as yams and soy and custom-tailored for each patient at a compounding pharmacy. While standard HRT differs from a woman’s natural hormones, bio-identical HRT is identical on the molecular level to the hormones produced by the body. That means your body cannot tell the difference between the estrogen formerly produced by your ovaries and bio-identical HRT. The bottom line is that the chemical structures of standard and bio-identical HRT are very different, and comparing one to the other is similar to comparing apples and oranges.
In pregnancy, estriol is the primary type of estrogen involved and is produced by the placenta and fetus. No matter their ethnicity, women who give birth before the age of 20 have a 50 percent lower lifetime breast cancer risk, and estriol may prove responsible. Estriol studies in rats have shown a reduction in mammary cancer.
Considered the weakest of the three estrogens produced by the body – the other two are estradiol and estrone – estriol is often found in bioidentical HRT.

One study found that “physiological data and clinical outcomes demonstrate that bio-identical hormones are associated with lower risks, including the risk of breast cancer,” as well as being more effective than standard HRT.

Physiological vs. Psychological Erectile Dysfunction

How the HCG Diet Works
The HCG diet requires you to take a daily dose of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin also known as HCG. It’s available in injections, pellets, sprays, oral drops, and pills. The HCG is best known as the hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy.
HCG consists of 244 amino acids and was first discovered to assist with weight loss by Dr. ATW Simeons, a British endocrinologist, when he learned that it played a critical role in controlling women’s metabolism.
The HCG Diet is a pro-hormone that helps the body produce more hormones. Since a hormone deficiency or imbalance is usually part of the reason for weight gain, whether it’s your thyroid, menopause, or andropause, this hormone can help reverse the effects.
HCG is a hormone in which the body can produce naturally. HCG causes the body’s metabolism to change and triggers the body to burn abnormal fat for energy. The presence of this hormone in the body (combined with a specialized diet plan) can result in a ½ lb to 1 lb fat loss per day.
According to patients, the HCG hormone reduces feelings of hunger. Because this is also a low-calorie diet this allows them to eat very little comfortably. It is believed that the presence of the HCG hormone in the bloodstream takes away your appetite.
HCG Diet and Muscle
One of the benefits of HCG injections, aside from weight loss, is that it keeps you from losing muscle while you diet. By elevating the hormone levels in your body, including testosterone, the HCG hormone creates a muscle-building state which counteracts the muscle-breakdown state.
This sets the HCG diet apart from other weight loss systems because typically during a fast, dramatic weight loss with crash dieting, there is a high amount of muscle that is lost, which the type of weight that you want to lose. Because muscle is heavier than fat, it may look like you have had a dramatic weight loss when in reality all you’ve lost is muscle. Additional HCG Hormone Benefits
According to the HCG Diet website, there are numerous additional benefits when you start the HCG diet. For instance, rheumatic pains can decrease within a few days of an HCG treatment and this allows patients to interrupt prolonged cortisone treatment. This interruption is key due to the disadvantages and negative effects associated with prolonged cortisone treatment.
High cholesterol has also been known to decrease with the introduction of the HCG hormone, helping to lower overall blood pressure. HCG usage has been proven to help patients with gout pain, even if levels of blood uric acid are increasing during treatment.
The overall lowering of blood pressure was also a significant discovery when it came to the use of HCG. When a woman with high blood pressure became pregnant, her blood pressure would often drop quickly, before slowly increasing once again after pregnancy. However, studies showed that their blood pressure never got back up to the same levels it was at before pregnancy.

Early Breast Cancer Detection and Thermography
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, and one out of every eight females will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime. While great strides have been made in breast cancer treatment in recent decades, the fact remains that early detection of such cancers may still mean the difference between life and death. Thermography is one of the tools used for early breast cancer detection.
As tumors grow, they are more likely to metastasize, spreading the disease throughout the body. When tumors are discovered at an early stage and removed – along with additional therapy such as radiation, chemotherapy and the use of tamoxifen or other medications –the woman has a much higher chance of surviving breast cancer.
Also known as thermal imaging, thermography has existed for several decades. It is a simple, non-invasive procedure, utilizing a special camera and infrared technology to take photos of the breasts and detect heat. The latter may prove indicative of early breast cancer, long before a woman may feel a lump in her breast. No radiation is involved with thermography.
How Thermography May Detect Early Cancer
The idea behind thermography and tumor detection is based on the fact that cancer cells grow very quickly. As they multiply, blood flow and metabolism rise, causing inflammation and a boost in skin temperature. It is this higher temperature that thermography identifies on the breast’s skin. Thermography cannot detect breast cancer per se, but it can identify excess heat potentially indicative of the early stages of breast cancer.
However, thermography also has a high rate of both false positives and false negatives, which alarms researchers. Just as women do not want to go through the stress and fear of a false positive, a false negative gives an unwarranted sense of security.
Not a Mammogram Substitute
In February 2019, the FDA issued a safety communication stating that thermography “should not be used in place of mammography for breast cancer screening or diagnosis.” The FDA notes that mammography is the safest and most effective breast cancer screening tool and the only method that increases survival through early breast cancer detection. Keep in mind that while insurance companies will usually not pay for thermography, they will cover mammograms.
Thermography vs. Mammograms for Young Women
Since thermography is not considered as reliable for detecting early breast cancer as a mammogram, why should a woman consider having the test done? Changes in mammography screening guidelines have raised the recommended age for an initial mammogram from 40 to 50 for women at average risk of developing breast cancer.
Because pre-menopausal women have denser breasts, mammograms are difficult to interpret in younger females. Mammograms may appear suspicious in as many as half of pre-menopausal women, leading to further testing, including biopsies. For most of these women, cancer is not present. Not only have they undergone unnecessary medical procedures, but they have also had to live with the fear of having cancer for weeks or months until their results come back.
Women at high risk for breast cancer, such as those with a family history of the disease or who have a BRCA gene mutation, should have mammograms at an earlier age. For the average woman without these risk factors, thermography might indicate early breast cancer, and she can follow up the results with a mammogram for a more definitive diagnosis.

In 2016, Dr. Ericsson was voted Tampa’s Best Obstetrician/ Gynecologist. She attended Yale University in CT, where she completed premedical requirements and earned her bachelors degree in History of Science and Medicine. A native New Yorker, Dr. Ericsson received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook Health Sciences Center. Dr. Ericsson went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St Barnabas Medical Center, New Jersey’s busiest Program. She was the program’s first female African American graduate.
Dr. Ericsson has experience as a Pharmacy Technician and also as a Medical Diagnostics Market Research Analyst. In 2006, she relocated to Tampa with her husband, of 20 plus years, and their three children. Dr. Ericsson is a Board Certified Obstetrician/ Gynecologist and a fellow of the American Congress of OB/ GYN. She has held membership in the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Hillsborough County Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York, Bay Area Medical Association, and the Student National Medical Association.
For over 10 years, Dr. Ericsson has been certified in various Aesthetic procedures. While going to school full time, I was working full time as well, and taking care of my four children as a single mother. During this course of attending school my children are active in sports football, basketball, and baseball. The key to being able to accomplish and graduate with honor is time management. Once I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration , I decided that I wanted to continue to pursue my education. I enrolled at Independence University to start my Masters in Healthcare Administration MHA program and graduated in 2019.

Tampa Rejuvenation’s integrative approach includes monitoring by a physician, providing customized diets by a nutritionist and registered dieticians, and offering assessments and training with a personal fitness trainer. Markowitz takes health and wellness personally; therefore his sole intention within this comprehensive approach is to provide a solid structure to help permanently change the patient’s lifestyles to live happier and healthier lives.

Liz Galvan was born in Cuba and moved to Florida as a teenager with her family. She has overcome many obstacles from gaining her citizenship to becoming fluent in another language. It is this hard work and dedication that has led her to be so successful in her life both personally and professionally. Liz’s parents are both in the medical field which has fostered her love for the health care field from a young age and fueled her desire to help others attain and maintain their best health.
Liz joined the Tampa Rejuvenation team in 2015 as a Certified Medical Assistant, but her work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to her patients were soon noted. Wanting to instill these traits into all the Medical Assistants here at Tampa Rejuvenation, Liz now serves as Clinical Manager for all office locations. She is also a graduate of Coolsculpting University, certified in Intravenous Therapy, certified Viora technician, and has been trained in our PulseWave RX technology.

Glenda was born in New York but moved to Tampa Bay with her family when she was 15. Glenda was on the dance team from Junior High on participating in various school events and plays. She has always enjoyed working as a team and has a passion for the health field both personally and professionally that was fostered at an early age. She graduated from Concord University with her degree in Medical Assisting and began working in a primary care office where she later realized she wanted to be on the other side of health care and joined the AgeRejuvenation team in 2013.
